About the position
BISS Preschool has three vacancies for a teaching assistant.
These are full-time (98%) positions. Two positions are permanent - available from 01 October 2025 and one position is temporary to cover maternity leave - available from November 2025 until October 2026, or until the maternity leave ends.
About the job
You will be working as part of a highly motivated and collaborative team offering a balanced curriculum that promotes the acquisition of key skills and behaviours through play and inquiry based learning.
The role of the Preschool Assistant is to:
- ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the children in BISS Preschool
- raise the standard of children's achievement within BISS Preschool’s curriculum
- participate in open evenings, parent meetings and other relevant events organised by BISS Preschool
- participate in the realisation of BISS Preschool's objectives
- undertake any additional professional duties, as required
Qualifications and skills
- full teacher assistant qualifications (for international schools) are preferred
- strong collaboration skills
- excellent English skills, both written and oral (Minimum B2)
- skills in building a caring, nurturing and creative environment
- skills in building positive relationships with parents
Personal qualities
Preferred candidate is:
- an excellent classroom practitioner
- passionate about inspiring the love of learning in children
- responsible, enthusiastic and proactive
- open minded, reflective and flexible
- able to think creatively

At BISS Preschool, the development of the whole child is at the heart of our education programme. Children are taught an inquiry driven, play based programme, integrated with the Norwegian Framework Plan for Preschools. BISS Preschool has 100 children from over 35 nations, aged 18 months to 6 years of age.
The Preschool is on the same campus as BISS Gausel, one of our primary schools, in a quiet suburb of Stavanger. The adjacent woodland and fjord provide enriched outdoor learning experiences. BISS Preschool works in collaboration with BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum Primary Schools.
