We are seeking a candidate for a one-year temporary position as research coordinator at NORA.ai. The temporary position carries the position code “senior advisor”. NORA is a national network but hosted at the University of Oslo (UiO). The person appointed will be employed by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences but will report to the NORA CEO.
The main responsibility involves overseeing NORA's Nordic initiatives and Nordic collaborations. This includes managing the newly established NORDIC AIR – a partnership between leading academic AI centers and networks across the Nordic region (CADIA, FCAI, NORA.ai, the Pioneer Centre, and WASP). The coordination efforts are primarily delivered through two key platforms: Nordic AI Meet, a conference designed for early-career researchers in artificial intelligence, and Nordic Machine Intelligence, a peer-reviewed, diamond open-access journal that publishes a broad range of scholarly work in AI.
Additional responsibilities, beyond the Nordic collaborations, may be assigned to the position.
NORA – the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium – is a national collaboration between 8 universities, 5 university colleges, and 4 research institutes within artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics. Our goal is to strengthen Norwegian research, education, and innovation in AI, machine learning, and robotics, as well as other relevant fields within artificial intelligence. The NORA Secretariat consists of seven dedicated staff members with diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. In addition, we currently have three temporary employees in various part-time roles. The University of Oslo, through the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and dScience – Centre for Computational and Data Science – hosts NORA. We are located at Blindern and share offices with dScience.
