Helping societies better manage risks will ensure that crises do not undermine or destroy important structures of our society like the energy supply, urban areas, transport infrastructure, or industrial value chains. IFEs Department Risk and Safety conducts research, development and consultancy in risk and safety related to digital systems in critical infrastructure. We collaborate with national and international partners, working on projects funded by the EU, the Norwegian Research Council, industry clients, and the OECD NEA Halden Project. Our team has experience in applied research and consultancy, working on complex digital systems. With a long history in providing research on Software Dependability and Digital Instrumentation and Control (D&IC) within the nuclear field, the specialists in the department is today involved with competence in Safety Case, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) in projects within nuclear, transport, hydrogen, energy and critical infrastructure.
The Department of Risk and Safety is looking for a Senior Researcher within Risk and Safety that would like to contribute to more resilient society.
For senior researchers, the role includes developing and leading research projects, writing proposals, and forming collaborations with external partners. Senior researchers will also contribute to guiding junior team members and ensuring that projects meet their objectives. We aim to provide an environment where researchers at all levels can develop their expertise, collaborate with others, and contribute to meaningful advancements in risk management.

We can offer
IFE is subject to the Security Act, which includes requirements for the organisation’s management of critical national information, as well as other relevant legislation concerning the management of sensitive information. On this basis, it is a prerequisite for employment that the applicant is suitable from a security perspective. Note that relevant applicants will be asked questions that are necessary to ascertain this. This includes questions about any ties to countries that the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) has classified as a ‘high-risk country’ in its open threat assessment. Background checks are performed as part of our recruitment process.
