The lab is located in the Department of Language and Literature (ISL) at the Faculty of Humanities (HF), NTNU. The LALP Lab is the oldest and best equipped experimental lab in Norway with a 20 year history. The equipment includes Tobii eye-tracking systems and EyeLink 1000; EEG and fNIRS; FURHAT Robot and allows for studying language behaviour (time-course and quantity of gaze/eye-movements), neuro-physiology of language processing in the brain and neuro-imaging (https://www.ntnu.edu/langdevlab#/view/publications).
One of the main responsibilities of the lab manager will be to assist with research in the newly awarded ERC Synergy grant SHAPE (https://www.ntnu.edu/shape/). This will involve (but is not limited to) recruiting and testing participants using behavioral and other methods currently used at the Lab, as well as data processing and analysis. The main goals of SHAPE are to map out the relationship between the visual perception of shape and its encoding across languages in the world and to identify the factors which constrain the observed cross-linguistic variation. SHAPE is also concerned with developmental trajectories in these domains and relies on tight collaboration with leading researchers in the field in the USA, the UK, Germany and France.
Your immediate leader will be the head of the department.
In the evaluation of which candidate is best qualified, emphasis will be placed on education, experience and personal suitability, as well as motivation, in terms of the qualification requirements specified in the advertisement
The position is placed as Staff Engineer code 1085. In this position, you will normally be paid from NOK 530 000 – 680 000, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund,
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria’s in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution on a daily basis.
